Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class experienced a setback on Tuesday as Bear Tenney, a tight end from Lone Peak (Utah), announced he is reopening his recruitment just one week before National Signing Day.
In his announcement on X, “After much thought, prayer, and conversations with my family, I have decided to reopen my recruitment and decommit from the University of Nebraska,” Tenney shared. He added, “This decision was not easy, and it comes with the utmost respect for Nebraska’s program, staff, team, and everything they represent.”
Tenney, who is 6-foot-6 and weighs 250 pounds, had been committed to Nebraska since April 25, choosing the Huskers over offers from multiple schools, including Arizona, Auburn, and LSU.
Listed as a three-star tight end by 247Sports, Tenney played his high school football in Texas, Arizona, and finished his senior season in Utah. His ranking stands at an 87 overall, placing him as the No. 55 tight end in the nation.
With Tenney’s decommitment, Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class now has 19 commitments, ranking No. 23 overall in the country according to 247Sports.
