Oh man, so much is happening with UNLV football right now. It’s like the coaching carousel just spun out of control. So here’s the scoop: Barry Odom had a decent run with the Rebels, getting them to 19 wins, which is not too shabby. But ultimately, they needed something more to really compete. Enter Dan Mullen, a guy with serious SEC credentials, I mean, he’s got a career record of 103 wins.
That’s a real statement. So, quick backstory on Mullen—he made a name for himself at Mississippi State, turning them into a force. Then he had that rollercoaster at Florida, where he took them to six bowl games. Sure, he got the boot after a rough season in 2021, but that Gators team had some serious highlights.
Now, the big question is, where does Mullen start with UNLV? Well, it looks like he’s bringing in someone he knows. Mike Sollenne, who’s been up at Ohio State. He was formerly the interim offensive line coach for Mullen back at Florida, and it seems like a smart move to keep that connection alive. He’s got experience, which is exactly what Mullen needs to get things rolling over there.
